This winter season, consider a dark and rich colour palette to bring warmth and cosiness, enhanced with luxurious textures and contrasting details. Drawing inspiration from old Hollywood glamour to quintessentially English grandeur, these deep and opulent palettes are timeless.
Intense wintry hues are versatile and comforting, and can be easily combined with other tones, neutral or bright, to contrast a cold and grey day outside.

Christopher and Suzanne Sharp recount their rug tale to Maltese lifestyle magazine Sunday Circle, revealing why they are going back to the island where it all began…
The Rug Company recently went to visit Paul Smith’s London studio to ask him about his approach to design . This is what he told us:

In celebration of “The Day of the Dead” (an excellent festival dedicated to the remembrance of dearly loved but departed friends and family) Christopher Sharp, on a recent visit to our shop in Mexico City, was presented with this Rug Company design dragon.
Those with a keen eye will be able to spot some of our most iconic rug designs hand painted on his skin.
We’re very excited to announce the launch of our new collection of hand-woven contemporary dhurries. Versatile, decorative and durable, these fine cotton flatweave rugs reflect The Rug Company’s contemporary design aesthetic and commitment to artisanal craft.
I was in Mexico City last week with The Rug Company’s founder and CEO, Christopher Sharp, to celebrate the reopening of our stunning new showroom which has relocated to brand new building in Alejandro Dumas – one of the loveliest streets in Polanco.
It was an auspicious week for us to throw open the doors again, as the City was abuzz with excitement about the opening of Design Week Mexico 2011, which officially kicked off yesterday with the opening of Design House in Chapultepec. Design House is a showcase for the Country’s top interior architects, each of whom have designed a room within a large 1950′s house in a leafy area of the City. Keen observers will spot a number of our rugs throughout the house, but it would be impossible to miss the colourful Paul Smith and Alice Temperley cushions in the vibrant courtyard café – designed by Jorge Medina and Germán Velasco of Muro Rojo Architectura.
Around 150 people from the design community, the press and the Dallas community came along to the official opening of our Dallas showroom in Hi Line Drive last night. The event, which was co-hosted by Chris Sharp, founder and CEO of The Rug Company and Michael Reagan, Showroom Director in Dallas, gave us a chance to throw open the doors and introduce old and new friends to our extensive collection of hand-knotted designer rugs over cocktails and canapes.
We’re now just a few days away from opening our beautiful new showroom in Harrods, so thought we’d share our excitement by showing you what must be the most striking hoarding imaginable. No sneak previews until we open, but we can tell you that it’s almost double the size of our showroom in Holland Park Avenue, and the design is simply stunning!
