The Rug Company Boutique unveils exclusive cushion collection

An exquisite new collection of entirely handmade cushions has been launched by The Rug Company Boutique. Continuing The Rug Company’s philosophy of meticulous craftsmanship and original design, the cushions have been created exclusively by designers such as Paul Smith, Vivienne Westwood, Barber Osbergy and Alice Temperley. Champion of eclectic British fashion Paul Smith brings his sartorial style to the home with Birdie Blossom and Dahlia, inspired by the opulent interiors of the 1920’s country manor house and the city gentlemen’s club. Painter’s Smock is inspired by the Bloomsbury Decorative Art movement, while Folded Polka Dot plays tricks on the eye, appearing to be folded fabric but on closer inspection is a flat finely woven tapestry, a meticulously crafted weave that The Rug Company is renowned for. In a unique collaboration, Disney has given The Rug Company unprecedented access to its art archives, selecting vintage artwork of Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Paul Smith enhances these 1930’s images with his trademark floral prints and quirky colour combinations to create a nostalgic and playful cushion collection with Mickey Bloomsbury, Minnie Bloomsbury, Mickey Victorian Scroll and Minnie Victorian Scroll. Alice Temperley has applied her unique sense of print and detail to her new cushion collection, with luxurious floral designs in sumptuous colours. Together as a collection, or on their own, the Peony, Florentine and Leopard cushions are covetable must-haves for a stylish home. Following the success of her award-winning geometric rug collection, Suzanne Sharp has re-interpreted the graphic prints as cushions with Sellarsbrook, Chiesa Yellow, Key Turquoise and Ponti. Tara Bernerd’s Miss Shady cushions, with her trademark aviator print and metallic threads, are playful and eye-catching accessories available in five colourways. Vivienne Westwood, the British doyenne of fashion, has created design classics of the future with VW Flag, Orb and Westwood cushions. Meanwhile British design-duo BarberOsgerby have drawn up simple, modernist Cell cushions with architectural influences, in muted grey and yellow colours. |
