The Rug Company and acclaimed interior designer Kelly Wearstler have joined forces to create a new eight-piece collection of handmade, contemporary rugs.

Renowned for her opulent and classical designs interpreted in a contemporary aesthetic, Kelly Wearstler is the first American interior designer to join The Rug Company’s line-up of esteemed guest designers.

Wearstler draws inspiration from a variety of influences for the collection, including the Art Deco movement, nature and optical art, as well as vintage fabrics and organic textures. Typical of her original and constantly evolving style, the collection plays with unusual colour combinations that adapt to different spaces and interior schemes; the designs can look transitional and contemporary, or neutral and timeless, according to the space in which they are placed. The modern and graphic patterns are available in a soft, multi-coloured palette to complement an array of décor styles.

Wearstler explains, “I gathered inspiration from a range of different sources; from my collection of vintage trims and wallcoverings, the tiny details of a button that I found at an old haberdashery in Paris, to the natural textures and contours of a beautiful seashell. My goal was to create designs that are unique in the marketplace, so I'm thrilled to have had the opportunity to do so with The Rug Company".
